of the pioneer town of Pendroy, N.D. in McHenry
County, N.D.
The following Pendroy families moved from
Iowa to Dakota
Territory (Mouse River Area of McHenry County, North Dakota in
1882-1883 after drought caused raising cattle
not to be profitable in Iowa. North Dakota
was opened to Homesteading and free land
was very appealing. This is where the pioneer
town named Pendroy, North Dakota was founded
by this family group..
(Author note: Jacob Andrew and Margaret (Brown) Pendroy, and possibly some extended family, moved to where Margaret Brown's family lived in Guthrie County, Iowa and lived there for a period before moving to the Velva, North Dakota area.)
1. Jacob Andrew Pendroy born 1832 moved at age 50 with wife.
Son - James Martin Pendroy born 1862 moved at age 20 with wife.
Daughter Ollie (Pendroy) Walker born 1857 moved at age 25 with husband.
Daughter Mag Marlenee b 1865 at age 17 with husband Frank Marlenee
2. James Martin Pendroy born 1834 moved at age 48 with wife.
Son - John Baldwin Pendroy born 1860 moved at age 22.
Son - Levi Boots Pendroy born 1861 moved at age 21.
Son - James Andrew Pendroy born 1863 moved at age 19.
Son Perry Pendroy born 1866 moved at age 16.
3. Rachel (Pendroy) Berry born 1825 moved at age 57.
Daughter Mary (Berry) Stickels b 1852 moved at age 30 (Widowed in 1878).
Son - William Berry Stickels - born 07-30-1871 at Otley Iowa. Moved 07-28-1948 at 76 Buried - Greenwood Mem. Terrace, Spokane, Wa.Daughter Margaret (Berry) Donnel born 1848 moved at age 34 with husband.
Daughter Mamie born 1877 moved at age 5.
Daughter Dora born 1873 moved at age 9.
Daughter Sally Berry born 1850 moved at age 32.
Son Thomas Berry born 1854 moved at age 28.
Daughter Lide (Berry) Masteller born 1857 moved at age 25 with husband.
4. Nancy (Pendroy) Young born 1829 moved at age 53.

(DP Note Nov. 23, 2010) : Jemima (Pendroy) (Pace) Mosier - Was erroneously listed as having gone on the 1882/1883 Pendroy family migration to Pendroy, North Dakota. Daniel Mosier and wife Jemima Mosier are in fact both in the 1885 census of Fairview township (Monroe, Iowa) of Jasper county Iowa. As previously and correctly documented, the Daniel Mosier and wife Jemima (Pendroy) (Pace) Mosier graves and monument are in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe, Iowa.
