(Special thanks to the Marshall family for providing the original Mary Pendroy
Funeral Card.)
This "Funeral Card" is for the
"Mary Pendroy" who was Mary Ann
(Wiseman) Pendroy, (who died Oct 12, 1887
near the town of Monroe, Iowa) and who was
the wife of James Pendroy (Born 1798). James
Pendroy-born 1798, was a brother of (old)
Jacob Pendroy-born 1795, who was married
to Margaret Boots.
James Pendroy (born 1798) and Jacob Pendroy-(born
1795), were two sons of the "old"
patriarch, Eli Pendroy-(born 1776) and who
was also married to a Mary, IE: Mary Lopp.
Several people have saved this "marycard.jpg"
into records on Ancestry.com and other places
for the "Mary Pendroy" who was
the wife of the old Eli Pendroy-born 1776.
In actuality the "marycard.jpg"
image is for the "Mary Pendroy"
one generation down. (IE: The "Mary
Pendroy" who was the wife of the James
Pendroy-born 1798).

if you would like to discuss this further.
Since both of these Mary Pendroys are grandmothers
to me, I am not bothered if any person uses
the 'marycard.jpg' for the wrong Mary Pendroy.
However, I am adding these comments just
to clarify....
This "Funeral Card" of Mary Ann (Wiseman) Pendroy was originally (mistakenly) believed to have a "died date" of October 12, 1837. Therefore, we could not identify the Mary Pendroy from that time frame. We could not figure who that was because nothing fit the known dates of death.
The death date of Mary Ann (Wiseman) Pendroy - wife of James Pendroy, is October 12, 1887. This information is on file on micro-film at the Marion County Iowa Library in Knoxville, Iowa. And the date on the funeral card that appears at first glance 1837 is actually 1887. Another piece of information that also is relevant is that cards like this one were not used yet in 1837 in America.
It appears that the gold ink on the left side of the second 8 in 1887 was worn off, or faded away, or was imprinted with a light film of gold ink, so that 1887 looks today like 1837. It is not readily apparent because the eight right beside it still looks as an eight.
But, with the imprinted funeral card date
correctly being October 12, 1887 and her
published death date of Oct 12, 1887, it
finally fits. It also fits being in the album
of Mary Ann (Wiseman) Pendroy's daughter,
Lydia (Pendroy) Marshall (Mrs. George Marshall). Comments by Don Pendroy, March 2011.
