Warner Mann

Warner was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Blades Mann. He was born in 1803 in the state of Delaware (West Virginia?). Warner was a small boy when his family moved to Ohio. He married Nancy Peavey in Highland County, Ohio.

Their children were:

Elizabeth 1824 married Robert Bartlett
Mary Mann 1826 married Elijah Bartlett on April 6, 1843It is this Elisha Bartlett household that old Eli Pendroy was found at in the 1850 Indiana Census.)
Rhoda 1829 married 1. John Getty 2. John Wright
Joseph 1832 married Matilda Alice Depay
Isaac 1834 married Mary Louisa Krohn
Martin 1826 married Lydia Bautz (or Bantz)
Thomas 1841 died 1844 at age 3.

He saw unlimited possibilities  in the uncultivated lands in Indiana and in 1836 took his family to Niles Township. He was a staunch abolitionist. He had been raised a Quaker and Nancy's father was a Methodist Minister. Warner and Nancy eloped by the storybook ladder to the second floor window method.

Neither of their families were happy about it. Warner's father, Joseph said, "Warner, the first thing thou knowest, thy daughters will be going off with those noisy Methodists!" "I hear them singing their songs now!".

After coming to Indiana, Warner bought a quarter section of land. He later took over a tract of land in what time was included within the city limits of Albany. He died at age 45.

Warner Mann was apparently also a Justice of the Peace.

Warner Mann is listed as being born in Virginia as the father of Isaac Mann in the 1880 Census. Warner Mann is listed as being born in West Virginia as the father of Isaac Mann pursuant to Isaac Mann's Death Certificate.
