James and Mary Ann (Wiseman) Pendroy were
married in Harrison County Indiana on April
27, 1824.
James and Mary Ann (Wiseman) Pendroy were married in Harrison County, Indiana
on April 27, 1824. (The license was recorded
initially on April 24, 1824). The marriage
is recorded as no. 926 and performed by Thomas
Faith, J.P. When the marriage record was
written in ink, the correct surname Pendroy
was either mis-spelled as Pend(E)roy, or
an inadvertant flourish during a pause in
the writing looks like Pend(E)roy, and was
typed that way on the typewriter also.
This resulted in some genealogy researchers
(erroneously but understandably) entering
the incorrect marriage surname Pend(E)roy
into some genealogy records, which still
wrongly exists in several places in year
2010. This record was also erroneously transcribed
in at least one census index as "Penderry"
and therefore wrongly exists in some family
records as "Penderry".
(Note: While Penderry is an unrelated but
existing and valid surname in America, there
has not been and there is no living person
or existing surname today of PendEroy).
