Edgar and Tempa are buried in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe, Iowa. View picture of grave of Ed and Tempa Pendroy.
Edgar Grant Pendroy was a son of Eli H. and Eliza Ann (Grubb) Pendroy. Edgar Grant Pendroy was born May 1, 1869 and died March 19, 1964 in Jasper County Iowa at Monroe, Iowa after living to age 95.
Temprance ("Tempa") Wilson was born Jan. 18, 1880. Tempa died at her home April 23, 1976 at age 96. Tempa was a daughter of Washington and Jane (Flaugh) Wilson of Red Rock, Iowa in Marion County.
Ed and Tempa Pendroy both spent their entire life in the Monroe, Iowa area. Ed and Tempa's marriage record is recorded on page 228 of the Jasper County, Iowa marriage records. Edgar's parents listed in the marriage record as "Ely Pendroy" and the groom's mother entry is "Eliza". ( Author note: Ely Pendroy is Eli H. Pendroy and "Eliza" was Eliza Ann (Grubb) Pendroy. The license was issued by M.F. Rinehart, which was his brother-in-law Melvin Rinehart: (Ed Pendroy's sister Martha Etta Pendroy married Mel Rinehart in Oct 18, 1891, and both Mel and Martha Etta (Pendroy) Rinehart are buried in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe Iowa as are Sherman and Mary Emma (Pendroy) Rinehart).
Since Ed's mother Eliza Ann (Grubb) Pendroy died when Edgar was three years old, that is likely why he reminisced about how important his older sisters had been in helping raise him.
They were married at Reasnor, Iowa which is near where Tempa Wilson was living then. Tempa's parents are listed in the Jasper county Iowa marriage records as "Washington and Jane (Flaw) Wilson". (Note "Flaw" is correctly "Flaugh"). The witnesses are Bert and Emma Wilson. (Bert Wilson was one of Tempa Wilson's brothers). The marriage was performed by J.R. Livingston J.P. Edgar Grant Pendroy and Tempa had four children.
Since Edgar Grant Pendroy was born in 1869, about 4 years after the end of the Civil War, that is most likely why he has the middle name Grant, being named after General/President Grant.
Ed Pendroy was a tall, sturdy man over 6' tall, and Tempa was a petite active woman. She made home-made bread frequently while in her nineties, even though the local grocery store 4 blocks away delivered her groceries right onto her kitchen table. They were both self reliant and hardy individuals.
