![]()
Amanda Sophia Pendroy was born on born 05- June-1845, and was a daughter of James and Mary Ann (Wiseman) Pendroy. Picture identified by writing on the back as Amanda S. Mapes. This "Mapes" family portrait was found in the picture albums belonging to Amanda's sister Lydia (Pendroy) Marshall, husband of George Marshall.
The viewer can approximately estimate the date of this "undated" Abraham Mapes family portrait utilizing the known birth of the youngest daughter in the picture: Cordelia Mapes, recorded as born abt. 1884 in US Census records. (My own estimate would be Circa: 1891 for this photo's date).

Amanda Pendroy married Albert G Trussell on 23 June, 1878. This marriage is recorded on page 123 of the publication: "Marriage Records of Marion County, Iowa: 1845-1915". Biographical information is limited. One of two identified daughters (Mary Trussell) is identified in Census records as 1. Mary C. Trussell born abt. 1880 and Mary C. Trussell married a Mr. Deere.
Author Note: Red Rock Iowa Cemetery records contain the grave: Albert G. Trussell - (no dates). Albert G. Trussell was a Corporal in the Civil war, enlisting in Marion County, Iowa: Co. G 17th Ia. Inf. (Date of death or other biographical information for Albert G. Trussell are not known.
Amanda (Pendroy) Trussell then married Abe Mapes. A second daughter is identified in census records. 2. Cordelia Mapes, born abt. 1884, and Cordelia Mapes married Mr. Fox.
